A complete website directory that runs on ordinary PHP hosting. Visitors browse categories, search, submit their own website and recommend the ones they like. You approve, edit and organise everything from a responsive admin area. All of it stores in a single SQLite file, so there is no MySQL server to request and no build step to run.
Everything lives in a single SQLite file. No MySQL to request from your host, no database user to create, no connection details to fill in. A backup is one file you copy.
Anyone can submit a website through the public form. Submissions wait for your approval, so the directory grows without you having to fill it yourself and without losing control over what appears.
Visitors recommend the listings they value. Repeat protection uses a keyed one-way hash of the visitor instead of storing a raw IP address, so the ranking stays honest without keeping personal data.
Listings are organised in categories and searchable from every page. Routes are readable rather than query strings, at a domain root or in a subfolder, so the pages your directory creates can rank on their own.
Both interface languages ship with the script and visitors switch between them. Add a language by copying one template file and translating the keys. Anything untranslated falls back to English instead of breaking.

PHP 8.2, 8.3, 8.4 or 8.5 with the PDO SQLite extension, which is standard on current PHP versions. On Apache or LiteSpeed you need mod_rewrite and permission to use the included .htaccess; on Nginx you add the try_files rule from the supplied example. Ordinary shared hosting is enough. There is no Composer step, no Node.js and no build process.
Correct. The directory stores its settings, categories, links, votes and pages in one SQLite file inside the storage folder. That removes the most common setup problem on shared hosting, and it makes a backup as simple as copying that file. If your host offers MySQL you simply do not use it.
Upload the files to your web root or a subfolder, make the config and storage folders writable, and open the site in a browser. Yes. The included .htaccess contains no hard-coded domain and no RewriteBase, so the same files work at example.com and at example.com/directory/ without editing. On Nginx you point the front-controller rule at the folder you chose.
You do. Visitor submissions arrive as pending entries and only become public after you approve them. From the admin area you can edit any listing, move it to another category, or remove it. Public links are limited to http and https addresses.
Passwords use PHP’s current password_hash default, forms are protected with CSRF tokens and every database query uses prepared statements. The supplied Apache and Nginx rules block direct web access to the SQLite database, the configuration and the templates. For production, run it over HTTPS, keep PHP updated and back up the database file regularly.
